Here today, gone tomorrow!

If you haven't heard Ashkan Fardost, Scientist, Strategist, and all-around funny guy, give a talk to a room filled with hundreds of tech-crazy students.   Well, you should! Talk about inspiring.  He gave a talk to us Hyper kids about business transformations and it was a poignant reminder of the insane roller coaster that is technology.

He reminded us how easy to fall into a trap of not conforming your business to changing technologies. Take heed of the lessons Eastman Kodak (who invented the digital camera btw, back in 1975!)

When creating new services and products for consumers, remember "The importance of being important!"  Companies can't compete on price and features anymore.  Your product must make the customer feel important!  This is definitely the main thing to keep in mind when you are solving a problem for the consumer.

If you have a very successful product or service, always think about how new technology can disrupt or even kill your business. A sample of disruptive technologies include:

driverless cars

Holographic & 3D tech

websites that build themselves

health tech

Business can be a "dog eat dog" world and you need to keep updated on new technologies.
